Cooperation Agreement between the Center for Human Rights and Ministry of Home Affairs

On 25th of May 2010, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Centre for Human Rights from Moldova, signed a partnership Agreement in areas of common interest to strengthen the process of promotion, respect and protection of human rights.
In order to ensure the guarantee of respect of constitutional human rights and freedoms by police employees, it will work by promoting expansion of contacts and establishing relations of cooperation in developing proposals for adjusting the national legal framework to international in the field of human rights, national policies and strategies; strengthening of efforts to prevent torture and other punishment or cruel, inhuman or degrading; facilitating information exchange in finding and highlighting violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms, in particular the right to life and physical and mental integrity, individual freedom and security of the person; organizing the partnership conferences, roundtables, etc., on common activities segments.
The parties will collaborate in respect of the principle of transparency in order to realize in the best conditions the activities under this Agreement. Periodically, it will be made an assessment and monitoring of the activities undertaken under the Agreement. Also, the society will be informed about actions undertaken and their impact.
Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Centre for Human Rights was signed by the minister Victor Catan and Anatolie Munteanu, director of the Centre for Human Rights from Moldova, ombudsman.
