The Republic of Moldova – extended security belt of the European Union discussed with the Europol representatives

The EU Support Hub for Internal Security and Border Management in the Republic of Moldova has achieved results in favour of strengthening this mechanism, European Commissioner Ylva Johansson told members of the EU Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Council.

In this regard, Andrei Cecoltan, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, had a bilateral meeting with Deputy Director of Europol, Jean-Philippe Lecouffe.

The European Parliament voted a resolution supporting the Republic of Moldova on its European course. The document acknowledges that our country is at a hybrid war triggered by Russia

The European Parliament adopted Resolution no. 223/2595 dated April 19, 2023 calling on the European Commission and the European Council to start negotiations with the Republic of Moldova on accession to the European Union by the end of this year, following the fulfilment of the nine recommendations made by the European Commission.

Moldova’s experience in combating violence against women, appreciated by the Georgian authorities

Although Moldova ratified the Istanbul Convention in 2021, our country already has an interesting experience in preventing and combating violence against women.

 

The statement was made by Chair of the Gender Equality Council of Georgia, Nino Tsilosani, during the study visit of the Moldovan delegation to Tbilisi.

 

Republic of Moldova sends a batch of humanitarian aid to earthquake-affected areas from Türkiye

The Government is sending a batch of humanitarian aid to the people of the Republic of Türkiye who suffered from the natural disasters caused by earthquakes on Februarie 6th and 7th.

Six trucks with a load of 317.93 cubic meters of goods are escorted by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations to the Leuseni border crossing point.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and UNICRI have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ana Revenco, jointly with Director of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), Antonia Marie De Meo, have signed a Memorandum of Collaboration on the fight against crime and promotion of an effective system of international justice.

By signing the document, an action plan is to be also implemented to enable the Ministry of Internal Affairs to design and implement training programmes in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice.
