Moldova is aligning with EU standards on Weapon Control

 

In the context of the efforts of the Republic of Moldova to align with the EU legislation, the Moldovan Government approved today a draft law, presented by the Minister of Internal Affairs, which partially transposes the Directive (EU) 2021/555 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 March 2021 on the control of the acquisition and possession of weapons by amending the Law no. 130/2012.

 

Government of Moldova approves Agreement on police cooperation with Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania

 

Chisinau, January 17, 2023 – Government members approved today the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania on police cooperation, signed in Chisinau on November 16, 2023.

Progress and impact: evaluation of the implementation of the 2021-2024 Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova

 

The status of implementation of the 2021-2024 Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova was discussed during the Steering Committee meeting held today and attended by representatives of national authorities and of the Council of Europe. 

 

During the meeting, the state institutions presented the progress and challenges in the implementation process and future priorities.

The leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs attended the 5th meeting of the Women, Peace and Security Focal Points Network which took place between June 6th-9th in Washington, USA. The meeting was organised by the USA and Romania. This year, the main theme of the platform was the adjustment and evolution of women, peace, and security as a framework for policy change.
