Focal Points from Moldova exchange best practices on Resolution 1325 in Sarajevo

Between June 11 and 13, 2025, a delegation of Focal Points from Moldovan security and defence institutions, responsible for implementing the 2023-2027 National Action Program (NAP) on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace and Security” (WPS) undertook a working visit to Sarajevo.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has extensive experience in implementing its own NAPs, which serve as a key instrument for advancing WPS agenda at the national level.

During bilateral meetings with representatives from national institutions tasked with WPS agenda implementation, the Women Police Officers Association and civil society organizations active in the field, discussions focused on the coordination and monitoring mechanisms of the NAP, the role of professional associations in promoting women’s rights in the security and defence sector, and the importance of civil society’s active engagement in advancing the WPS agenda. These exchanges underscored the value of inter-institutional cooperation and continuous dialog between authorities and civil society to ensure inclusive and sustainable security.

Participation in the International Conference “From Gender Justice to Sustainable Peace” further reinforced the understanding that promoting the WPS agenda is essential in a regional and global context marked by increasing instability. The event highlighted the need for stronger commitments and concrete actions to integrate WPS principles in conflict prevention and resolution efforts.
