Moldova contributes to international dialogue on Women, Peace and Security Agenda

How can women be more meaningfully involved in peace processes? What roles do they play in conflict situations and how can initiatives that protect and empower them be supported?

These questions were at the heart of discussions during the Thematic Meeting of the Global Network of Focal Points on Women, Peace and Security, held on May 13-14, 2025, in Oslo, Norway.

The event brought together representatives from governments and non-governmental organizations from tens of countries. The Republic of Moldova was represented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Participants explored how women’s roles are evolving in today’s increasingly complex conflict landscape and what actions are needed to support them effectively. Key themes included the importance of national action plans, sustainable funding for relevant initiatives, and ensuring that women are present at decision-making tables.

During breakout sessions, participants exchanged experiences, identified challenges and local solutions. Emphasis was placed on collaboration, mutual learning and building resilient networks to advance the Women, Peace and Security agenda.

By taking part in this forum, Moldova reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable peace and to ensuring women’s meaningful participation in security processes.

Participation of the Republic of Moldova in the Thematic Meeting of the Global Network of Focal Points on Women, Peace and Security in Oslo was made possible due to the support of UN Women.
