Moldovan-German cooperation for better trained employees and protected communities

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is working with partners from Germany to develop new projects aimed at strengthening responses to risk situations, enhancing citizen protection, and equipping operational structures.

During a bilateral meeting, Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin held discussions with representatives of the German Federal Foreign Office, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chișinău, and the Global Security Sector Reform Foundation (GS Foundation). The parties reviewed ongoing projects and identified new initiatives to be launched in the near future.

One key example is the enhancement of police capabilities through specialized training programs focused on responding professionally to cases of domestic violence, providing immediate support to victims, and adopting best practices from Germany. These include improvements in the internal organization of intervention teams, inter-institutional cooperation, and victim protection during the critical first 24 hours after an incident.

The Moldovan-German partnership also envisions the launch of joint projects to modernize equipment and strengthen the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ ability to respond to citizens’ needs. Additionally, it includes training for personnel in areas such as integrated border management, prevention of hybrid threats, and crisis management.

Another key topic of discussion was the promotion of women’s active participation in security structures by fostering a supportive and equitable framework for their involvement.

The collaboration with German partners is already delivering tangible results: a better-trained police force, effective victim protection mechanisms, and safer communities for all citizens.
