Three years of home affairs reforms – achievements and the road ahead

In a challenging and rapidly evolving regional context, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) launched the Together4Home Affairs (T4HA) platform to transform how services are delivered to citizens. After three years of intensive collaboration with national and international partners, the initiative has modernized home affairs institutions and brought them closer to the real needs of the people.

A recent strategic T4HA meeting reviewed the progress made so far and explored next steps. The event served both as a moment to recognize the contributions of all those involved and as a platform to generate new ideas for deepening the impact of these reforms.

"This platform is more than just collaboration - it is a driver of real change. It helps us build a home affairs system that truly responds to people’s needs. We will continue to work together to create institutions that are more citizen-focused, more flexible and efficient," said Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin.

Key achievements include the simplification and digitalization of public services enabling citizens to obtain documents more quickly and with less bureaucracy. Over 20 border crossing points have been renovated and outfitted with modern equipment to ensure faster and more secure checks. Intervention forces have been supplied with more than 150 vehicles and advanced gear, while thousands of MIA employees have completed training programs tailored to today's priorities in key areas such as public safety, cyber security or emergency response.

Information and prevention campaigns have been carried out directly in communities, helping to raise awareness about risks and protective measures. Internationally, Moldova has strengthened its participation in international missions and deepened cooperation with European countries to combat human trafficking, drug smuggling and other forms of organized crime.

The T4HA initiative has enabled more efficient use of resources and leveraged the expertise of strategic partners to align state institutions with the real needs of society and the evolving security landscape. It has also laid the foundation for a faster, clearer and more results-driven approach across the internal affairs systems.

"The United States supports Moldova's security, recognizing that the stability of this country contributes to the stability of the entire region. Together, we are fighting the trafficking of drugs, weapons, and people, as well as combating cybercrime - efforts that make both our countries safer and better prepared for the future," said Daniela DiPierro, Charge d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Moldova.

The Together4Home Affairs platform stands as a clear example of how shared vision, strong leadership and effective collaboration can deliver tangible results, creating safer communities, modern institutions and better public services.
