15 May 2025 Border crossings in Moldova will become faster, safer and more efficient for citizens. Border police will be equipped with modern tools and receive advanced training to prevent illegal migration and combat cross-border crime, enhancing the safety of people and communities. Border crossing points with international status will be upgraded with cutting-edge technologies for second-line checks and biometric verification, including fingerprint scanning. These new procedures will enable more efficient and seamless screening, reducing waiting times for travellers. Over 1,000 border officers will receive annual training in renovated facilities aligned with international standards. This will lead to faster interventions, more professional responses and stronger overall security for the population. These advancements are made possible through strong cooperation with international partners. The project is financially supported by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs and implemented by the International Organization for Migration in Moldova.
