Domestic violence not only impacts its direct victims, but also destabilizes communities and future generations. It is a pressing social issue that demands modern and effective solutions. While aligning with European standards, the Moldovan authorities aim to adopt successful models from other countries to better protect victims, monitor perpetrators and reduce the risks of recidivism.
To advance these efforts, between January 20 and 24, 2025, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Alexandru Bejan, together with a delegation from the ministry and the General Police Inspectorate, is participating in a study visit to Germany.
Discussions focused on enhancing victim protection, ensuring faster and more effective interventions and reducing the risk of repeated violence. The Moldovan delegation met with Joachim Herrmann, Bavarian State Minister of the Interior, Sport and Integration, as well as representatives of the Berlin Police and the Special Department for Combating Domestic Violence in Munich.
Collaboration with institutions in Germany offers valuable insights into building a resilient system that is better aligned with the real needs of citizens. The outcomes of these efforts will contribute to creating a safer and more equitable society.
The visit is part of the project “Promoting Gender Equality of Women in Security Services in Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia - EQUALFORCE”, implemented by GS Foundation in the period 2024-2025.
