The Minister of Internal Affairs met today with the Swedish Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova to discuss the ongoing development of the strategic partnership between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Government of Sweden. The officials agreed to further promote the partnership priorities, with a particular focus on supporting the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and the General Inspectorate of Police, accelerating the digitalization of MIA services, and implementing the "Women, Peace and Security" agenda.
Discussions also covered challenges related to hybrid threats and cybersecurity, particularly in the context of protecting critical infrastructure. The minister emphasized that building strategic communication capabilities, including scenario-based forecasting, remains a key priority for the Ministry. Additionally, the need to enhance institutional capacities, including for informing and alerting citizens was highlighted.
In light of the regional challenges, the minister stressed the ongoing efforts to assess and address the needs for better equipping the internal affairs agencies with essential equipment to ensure operational continuity and energy resilience.
She also emphasized the importance of support from development partners in aligning the national legislation with the EU acquis and enhancing the analytical and planning capacities of the home affairs system, considering the current regional context.
The Ambassador of Sweden assured the ministry’s leadership that Sweden will continue to support the institution's initiatives, pledging continued collaboration and backing for projects aimed at modernizing and improving the efficiency of Moldova’s security and public order structures.
