Minister of Internal Affairs Adrian Efros meets with Greek Deputy Minister of Citizen Protection Andreas Nikolakopoulos

 

Athens, August 2, 2024 - Minister Adrian Efros met with the Deputy Minister of Citizen Protection of the Hellenic Republic, Andreas Nikolakopoulos. The bilateral meeting focused on establishing a cooperative partnership between the two countries to facilitate the effective exchange of information on cybercrime cases, operational methods and special investigation techniques.

The discussion also covered adopting best practices for investigating crimes related to the recruitment of young girls as surrogate mothers or for reproduction and child trafficking. Minister Efros emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge, expertise and digitizing police work processes, highlighting the crucial role of modern technologies and methods.

The need to establish an effective mechanism for exchanging statistical data and information on cross-border crimes was also stressed. This includes creating a system for sharing information on crimes committed by Moldovan citizens in Greece and vice versa to improve coordination in their investigations.

Additionally, the meeting explored creating partnerships for the professional training of police officers, enhancing their skills in using OSINT and cyber patrolling to prevent various crimes.

Another key topic was the possibility of creating a joint working group and drafting an action plan to prevent human trafficking, combat this phenomenon and disrupt organized criminal groups.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to continued close cooperation to ensure the security and protection of citizens in both countries.
