The leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs had a bilateral meeting with Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement

The visit of the European Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi to the Republic of Moldova concluded with a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs Adrian Efros and the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vladislav Cojuhari.

During the meeting, the officials discussed the next priorities for EU assistance to Moldova in the field of internal affairs, with a particular focus on measures to enhance the security of the country's citizens - an essential aspect of Moldova's EU accession negotiations.

Furthermore, the officials reviewed the work of the European Union Support Hub for Internal Security and Border Management. Launched in 2022, the Hub’s priority areas include increasing the security of both the Republic of Moldova and the EU by mitigating risks and threats related to drug trafficking, arms smuggling and human trafficking, illegal migration, trafficking of radioactive substances, and cybercrimes.

Commissioner Várhelyi was on a working visit to the Republic of Moldova from July 9 to 11.
