The Government has approved the National Program on Migration and Asylum for 2026 - 2030, a strategic plan that places people at the heart of all its actions. The document introduces modern solutions, clear regulations, and more accessible services for everyone involved in migration and asylum processes.
In recent years, Moldova has faced numerous humanitarian, economic, and social challenges. Our country has provided protection to thousands of displaced persons from Ukraine, strengthened mechanisms for managing migration flows, and consistently upheld respect for fundamental rights and freedoms.
The new program builds on these efforts and advances a clear vision - a European Moldova that is both secure and open to all. The digitization of administrative processes will simplify procedures and make it easier for citizens and foreigners alike to access fast and affordable public services. At the same time, the program establishes clear rules for those who choose to come to Moldova for work, study, investment, volunteering, IT activities, or educational programs.
Integration of those who live temporarily or permanently in our country remains a priority. They will have access to education, health care, and social assistance and will be encouraged to take an active part in community life. Conditions for receiving persons seeking international protection will also be improved through investments in infrastructure, standardized procedures for reviewing applications, and the training of qualified personnel.
The program also introduces measures to strengthen public safety. An integrated system for monitoring and removing foreigners staying illegally will help reduce the risks associated with irregular migration and human trafficking, offering greater protection to vulnerable individuals.
The impact will be felt in everyday life. Regulated migration will bring new expertise to state institutions, while communities will benefit from the contributions of those who choose to live and work in Moldova. At the same time, improved migration control will enhance citizens’ safety and ensure stronger protection for foreign nationals, who will be better protected from the risks of human trafficking and cross-border crime.
This program is not only about migration or asylum – it is about the future of the Republic of Moldova as a modern, safe, and dignified state. It reflects care, balance, and shared responsibility in building a society where every person is respected, protected, and empowered to contribute to the common good.
