The Republic of Moldova and Romania are deepening their security partnership to better respond to citizens’ needs and to accelerate Moldova’s European integration. Today in Bucharest, Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin met with Cristian Diaconescu, Presidential Advisor for the National Security Department, and Mircea Abrudean, President of the Romanian Senate.
The talks focused on joint projects aimed at strengthening border security, improving mobility for citizen, developing intervention infrastructure, and introducing modern solutions for managing migration, asylum, and emergency situations. Supported by the European Union, these initiatives help bring Moldova in line with European standards in the fields of security and justice.
The results are already visible: the Leova -Bumbăta crossing point now operates around the clock, providing citizens with greater freedom and flexibility of movement, while coordinated controls at Giurgiulești - Galați help cut waiting times and streamline cross-border traffic.
Cybersecurity and institutional resilience are also key areas of cooperation. Moldova and Romania are working together to safeguard IT infrastructure, prevent cyberattacks, and counter disinformation through a joint rapid response mechanism.
These efforts demonstrate that the partnership with Romania is a tangible support for citizens and a strong foundation for advancing Moldova’s European integration.
