New roads to Europe: Cabinet of Ministers approves Cantemir - Fălciu Agreement

More travel opportunities are opening up for citizens, businesses, and visitors. Today, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the signing of an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Romania on coordinated border control at the Cantemir - Fălciu railway crossing. This decision paves the way for the revival of a key railway link connecting the south of Moldova with the European transport network.

Under the agreement, border waiting times will be reduced as authorities from both countries will conduct joint checks. Rail traffic will move more smoothly, making travel between Moldova and Romania faster. The simplified formalities for carriers and economic operators will also boost trade and mobility.

The agreement also provides for closer cooperation and information exchange between authorities, enhancing border security and strengthening bilateral relations in border management. Implementing coordinated control at the Cantemir - Fălciu railway crossing will improve connectivity to the west and facilitate exports to the European Union, while ensuring faster, safer, and more comfortable travel.
