23 May 2025 The Moldovan Ministry of Internal Affairs prioritizes strengthening mechanisms to prevent and combat drug use and trafficking with the goal of protecting citizens from the harmful effects of illicit substances and promoting a safe and healthy environment. In this context, Alexandru Bejan, State Secretary of the Ministry, participated in the launch event of the project "Supporting the Republic of Moldova in addressing the risks and harms related to drug use and addictive behaviours" (2025-2026), organized by the Council of Europe. This project marks a significant step forward in the efforts of the National Anti-Drug Commission and supports Moldova in developing effective, integrated policies in the field of drug prevention and control. Discussions at the event focused particularly on the development of Moldova’s first comprehensive national strategy in this area. Additionally, a feasibility study was presented on the establishment of a specialized body to coordinate national anti-drug policy. The Ministry of Internal Affairs remains committed to supporting initiatives aimed at protecting society – especially young people - from the dangers of illicit drug use.
