Republic of Moldova and Romania strengthen security cooperation


The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Daniella Misail Nichitin, and Senator Nicoleta Pauliuc, Chair of the Romanian Senate's Committee on Defence, Public Order and National Security, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of security during a meeting held at the Romanian Senate in Bucharest.

The discussions focused on accelerating legislative and institutional collaboration to foster a robust security culture and promote greater inclusion of women in decision-making processes – both essential for adapting to evolving security challenges. The two officials also emphasized the need to establish a joint mentoring mechanism to support leadership development in national security.

Both parties agreed on the importance of an integrated and coordinated approach between internal security and defence institutions. They underlined the necessity of incorporating hybrid threats dimension into European security strategies, as complex threats increasingly transcend traditional borders.

The Republic of Moldova reaffirmed its active commitment to the European integration, advocating for modern approaches to strengthening regional security and safeguarding the external borders of the European Union.

This strategic cooperation underscores a shared commitment to building integrated, innovative and resilient security systems able to quickly respond to today's challenges and ensuring stability and prosperity across Europe.
