Moldovan - Czech civil protection cooperation: modern equipment for citizens' safety

Seven rescue boats and specialized diving equipment donated by the Czech Republic to Moldova’s General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) were presented to Czech President Petr Pavel, during his working visit to Chisinau.

The boats have been allocated to Soroca, Cahul, Hincesti, Chisinau and Balti where they will be used to support search and rescue operations. In addition to the equipment, President Petr Pavel was also introduced to the advanced technology acquired by the Border Police through the Moldovan-Czech cooperation projects. These include operational drones with thermal imaging cameras for round-the-clock border surveillance, as well as devices designed to detect illegal crossings.

The event was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin, representatives of the MIA subdivisions and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Moldova.

A symbolic highlight of the visit was President Petr Pavel signing the IGSU Book of Honor, reaffirming the Czech Republic's continued support for strengthening Moldova’s emergency response capabilities.

Notably, the Czech Republic has consistently supported Moldova’s internal affairs system by providing equipment and conducting training programs for personnel. This assistance directly enhances citizen safety, strengthens operational readiness in critical situations and reinforces Moldova’s European integration efforts.
