7 March 2025 A new, energy-independent fire and rescue station has been inaugurated in Ocnita, enhancing safety for residents across 33 localities in northern Moldova. Built to European standards, the modern facility significantly improves working conditions for firefighters and rescue personnel. One of its key features is energy self-sufficiency, achieved through a photovoltaic system and heat pumps, ensuring uninterrupted operation in all conditions. This is the seventeenth station opened under the international assistance program and will enable emergency responders to react swiftly and effectively in the towns of Ocnita, Otaci and Frunze, and 30 surrounding villages - serving over 47, 000 residents. The construction of this station marks an important step in strengthening the intervention capacity of the rescue and firefighting teams, directly contributing to greater public safety and protection for citizens. Under the same program, two additional stations were put into operation in 2025 in Dondușeni and Căinari.
