Enhancing cooperation with CEPOL to modernize the internal affairs system and strengthen public safety

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Daniella Misail-Nichitin, and the Head of International Cooperation at CEPOL, Alexandru Niculita, discussed the progress of joint projects and new areas of cooperation aimed at benefiting both MIA employees and citizens.

In this context, they emphasized the importance of operationalizing the Cyber Laboratory within the Technical-Criminalistic and Forensic Expertise Centre of the General Police Inspectorate. This facility is designed for research, training and testing in the field of cyber security.

The development of training programs for both current and future employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, delivered at the "Stefan cel Mare" Academy, is essential to ensuring effective support for citizens by enhancing professional skills and preparedness. In this regard, discussions explored the integration of inter-institutional activities within the MIA system using the academy’s platform. This initiative would provide graduates with practical intervention skills directly applicable in their professional roles.

Emphasizing the objectives of strengthening public safety and maintaining public order, the Minister of Internal Affairs underscored the need to further institutionalize training programs. This approach will ensure that MIA employees receive continuous training at European standards, leading to more efficient public services, enhanced security, and a faster response to emergencies.

Additionally, the parties reviewed the progress on the EU4Security Moldova platform, which supports the modernization of law enforcement institutions and their alignment with European best practices.
