30 January 2025 Strengthening institutional capacity, enhancing citizen security and promoting employee integrity remain top priorities for the Ministry of Internal Affairs. During a meeting between the Minister of Internal Affairs, Daniella Misail-Nichitin, and Paolo Costa, Senior Program Manager at the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF), discussions focused on expanding cooperation and assessing the progress of joint projects aimed at ensuring a safer environment for citizens. The meeting underscored the importance of continuing DCAF’s expertise and technical support, particularly in training the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, in order to improve response times and enhance population protection. The officials also discussed strengthening training programs on professional integrity and interoperability, which play a key role in increasing institutional transparency and preventing corruption. Additionally, they addressed the modernization of institutional communication processes to ensure the swift and accurate dissemination of information to citizens, helping to counter disinformation. They highlighted the Ministry’s efforts in Moldova's accession to the European Union and the promotion of gender equality in the security sector, in line with the UN Security Council Resolution 1325. The discussion also underscored the importance of supporting the professional development of MIA employees to encourage young men and women to pursue careers in internal affairs. Minister Misail-Nichitin reaffirmed the importance of continued collaboration with international partners to enhance citizen safety and improve the efficiency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
