Moldovan Police receives modern equipment to improve public safety

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is advancing its strategic initiatives to enhance public safety and modernize institutional structures. As part of these efforts, the General Inspectorate of Police has been equipped with modern communication equipment through the project “Enhancement of crisis and public security response of the Moldovan Law Enforcement Authorities through Tetra radio equipment and training”, with a total budget of 1.5 million euros.

The TETRA equipment, which includes portable, mobile and stationary stations, will enable secure and efficient communication among operational police units. This will strengthen their capacity to respond swiftly to crises and perform their daily duties effectively.

"The Republic of Moldova takes its responsibility seriously in contributing to the collective efforts to safeguard democratic values. The TETRA equipment provided by the European Union Partnership Mission to the Republic of Moldova (EUPM) is more than technological support. It represents solidarity and a commitment to building a secure future", stated Minister of Internal Affairs, Daniella Misail-Nichitin.

The project was made possible through the support of the EUPM, a key partner in the modernization of Moldovan law enforcement institutions.

At the end of 2024, European experts visited Chisinau and provided a series of recommendations to enhance the operational activities of the National Police.

“These conclusions will guide us as we continue to strengthen the capacity of our institutions to ensure citizens' safety,” the minister added.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs remains committed to deepening the partnership with the European Union to enhance citizen protection and support the development of the Republic of Moldova as an integral part of the European security framework.
