On December 20, 2024 Minister of Home Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin met with Kevin Covert, U.S. Charge d'Affaires ad-interim, to discuss bolstering security and enhancing bilateral collaboration in the field of home affairs.
Key topics included U.S. support provided for implementing strategic projects with direct benefits for citizens. Notable initiatives include the TETRA system (https://mai.gov.md/ro/node/8353), the Family Justice Center of the General Inspectorate of Police (https://cjf.md) and the National Child Sexual Abuse Reporting Mechanism (https://www.siguronline.md).
The meeting also focused on the 2025 cooperation priorities aimed at advancing the Republic of Moldova's European integration. These priorities include sharing experience, training and equipping personnel to combat online crime, preventing money laundering, developing a communication system tailored to the social vulnerabilities and addressing risks to the state’s democratic trajectory.
Additionally, the discussion highlighted the need to strengthen analytical and forecasting capacities through data-driven approaches and to develop an integrated border management system.
