The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) continues to implement strategic initiatives that enhance citizen safety and modernize institutional structures. On December 13, 2024, MIA hosted the Together4Home Affairs (T4HA) Sector Council meeting at strategic level, bringing together ambassadors and development partners to discuss key priorities.
Through the T4HA initiative, MIA launched 29 projects in 2024 focusing on bolstering public safety, improving infrastructure and enhancing services for citizens. These efforts have directly benefited communities by empowering police, border services, migration authorities and the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations to respond promptly and effectively to public needs.
In total, MIA’s project portfolio grew to 220 initiatives in 2024, with 75 projects currently in the implementation phase. By December 2024, the ministry achieved an impressive 83.57% implementation rate for the Development Matrix, reflecting steady progress in modernizing the home affairs system. The ministry also acknowledges the vital support of international donors, including the European Union, the USA, Germany, Sweden, and Japan. Their contributions have been instrumental in addressing current challenges and aligning MIA operations with its strategic objectives.
The event underscored the contribution of partners in accelerating the nationwide expansion of the TETRA secure communications system and initiating the MD - ALERT - STUDY Feasibility Project. This Program aims to produce a study that will serve as a foundation for the successful implementation of the National System for warning the population during emergencies and exceptional situations in Moldova.
"T4HA is a catalyst for meaningful changes, enabling us to identify vulnerabilities in the internal affairs system and transform them into areas of resilience," emphasized Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin.
EU Ambassador Jānis Mažeiks and U.S. Charge d'Affaires ad-interim to Moldova Kevin Covert shared insights on the prospects and challenges for 2025. Both reaffirmed their commitment to further supporting the institutional development of MIA.
Together 4 Home Affairs Sector Council serves as a key coordination mechanism, establishing pillars of support in the home affairs sector. Its mission is to promote the sustainable development of the country and advance the European Union's concept of extended security belt, which includes Moldova.
