The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) will receive support to enhance its emergency management capabilities. The first meeting of the Steering Committee of the project "EU4 Resilient Moldova - Safe State, Strong Communities", funded by the European Union and implemented by Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova, took place yesterday, December 13, 2024.
The project’s primary goal is to foster a safer environment for citizens by bolstering Moldova's resilience to potential crises, emergencies and threats to national security.
By November 2025, the initiative plans to establish 10 new territorial stations for volunteer firefighters and rescuers and renovate an additional 10. The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations will also receive a specialized truck with a manipulator for transporting and loading containers with rapid intervention equipment.
Furthermore, officers from the General Inspectorate of Police, Fulger, General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Carabinieri and Scorpion will receive training to improve critical emergency interventions, including high-altitude operations, building evacuations and first aid. The officers will also receive protective equipment, such as helmets, goggles, bulletproof vests, etc.
To improve coordination and streamline workflows, the ministry will benefit from an upgraded integrated software system for managing, collecting, exchanging and analysing operational data across its subdivisions.
Additionally, the project includes renovating the "Dinamo" sports club, which is used by law enforcement personnel for training.
