Moldovan – German dialogue on modern police closer to communities

 

Deputy Secretary General Vladislav Cojuhari met with Andreas Schmenkel-Backhoff, Inspector of the Federal Riot Police, to discuss ways to enhance collaboration between the Moldovan and German police entities.

The discussion highlighted the progress made in implementing the community policing concept in Moldova, emphasizing improved interaction and mutual trust between law enforcement and the public. Inspired by the German model, this approach promotes a proactive police presence in communities while encouraging citizens to actively participate in crime prevention and public safety efforts.

Other key topics addressed included the achievements of the EU Security HUB, the strategic use of social media to enhance police communication with the public, and the importance of international cooperation through joint projects and experience exchanges.

The German representative also shared insights into Germany's successful collaboration between public and private sectors, with a particular focus on voluntary mechanisms and initiatives that contribute to national security.
