The decision was announced during the Summit of the International Association of Gendarmeries and Police Forces with Military Status (FIEP), held in Rome, Italy. It marks the culmination of an extended negotiation process, preceded by several evaluation missions conducted by international experts.
Brigadier General Dumitru Scurtu, General Commander of the General Inspectorate of Carabinieri, expressed his gratitude to the representatives of the current FIEF Presidency, Italy’s Arma dei Carabinieri, for hosting and organizing this significant event.
"I extend my sincere gratitude to all our development partners and colleagues from the member states for their trust. It is an honour for the General Inspectorate of Carabinieri of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to be part of the great FIEP family. We are committed to continuing our efforts to enhance the exchange of experience and to align Moldova's Carabinieri with international standards, highlighting the vital role of inter-institutional collaboration in promoting peace and security," emphasized Brigadier General Dumitru Scurtu during his speech.
Sharing common security interests, the Moldovan Carabinieri have affirmed their commitment to FIEP’s values and principles. The status obtained at the FIEP Summit is a promising step for strategic and operational advancement of the Carabinieri at the international level.
The successful accession of the Moldovan Carabinieri to FIEP will also help align the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova with EU and international standards, contributing to the achievement of national strategic objectives related to European integration.
