Meeting between Minister of Internal Affairs and UN Resident Coordinator in Moldova

 

Minister Efros held a bilateral meeting with Yeșim Oruç Kaya, the new United Nations Resident Coordinator in Moldova. The discussion was also attended by Kristin Jenssen, UN Peace and Development Advisor.

he minister congratulated Ms. Oruç Kaya on her appointment and wished her success in coordinating UN activities in Moldova. The meeting served as an opportunity to strengthen the long-standing cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the UN agencies, highlighting their crucial role in managing the refugee crisis and supporting public order and security reforms.

"We appreciate the United Nations for its ongoing support in addressing the refugee crisis and for the successful implementation of development projects. Our collaboration with the UN remains a top priority, and the reforms backed by UN agencies deliver tangible benefits to our society," said Minister Efros.

The discussions focused on cooperation to advance law enforcement reform, digitalization of administrative processes and the implementation of medium- and long-term programmes to support Ukrainian refugees. Additionally, collaboration with UN Women and other agencies was discussed, particularly in promoting gender equality and implementing the National Program for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security for 2023-2027.


The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the United Nations will continue to develop joint projects to strengthen refugee reception infrastructure and integrate refugees into local communities. This partnership is a key element in addressing the challenges of the humanitarian crisis.
