Achievements in combating human trafficking discussed by authorities and partners

 

July 10, 2024 – The representatives of IOM Moldova, General Prosecutor’s Office, Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Institute of Justice, International Center “LaStrada”, beneficiaries, donors and experts reunited for the second steering committee meeting of the “Addressing emerging threats related to trafficking in persons in the Republic of Moldova” project.

They reviewed the past six months’ progress and discussed future activities, namely the preliminary results of the study on recent jurisprudence of TiP jurisprudence and crimes related cases, a new curriculum on the recovery of criminal assets, that will be used to train current and future prosecutors, judges, and police officers; and the possibility of creating a separate grave offenders registry to enhance protection for children and vulnerable people.


The beneficiaries acknowledged the effectiveness of past activities by presenting data, current achievements, the next steps, underlining the importance of continuous cooperation.
