The status of implementation of the 2021-2024 Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova was discussed during the Steering Committee meeting held today and attended by representatives of national authorities and of the Council of Europe. 

During the meeting, the state institutions presented the progress and challenges in the implementation process and future priorities.

Chisinau, June 14^th, 2023: More than 200 women from the Republic of Moldova and Romania joined forces yesterday on the Women4Security platform to initiate projects aimed at developing security and organisational culture for the well-being and security of citizens in the region and in Europe.

The leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs attended the 5th meeting of the Women, Peace and Security Focal Points Network which took place between June 6^th-9^th in Washington, USA. The meeting was organised by the USA and Romania. This year, the main theme of the platform was the adjustment and evolution of women, peace, and security as a framework for policy change.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the GS Foundation signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will strengthen the capacities of the National Police and the Border Police to fight crime and terrorism, which have been intensified by the Russian military aggression against Ukraine.

The cooperation framework sets out the implementation of two large projects worth a total of more than €6.8 million.

The leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs held a bilateral meeting with the delegation of the European Gendarmerie Force EUROGENDFOR.

The meeting took place in the context of the assessment visit (June 19^th – June 23^rd) of the structure, functions and tasks of the General Command and subordinate subdivisions of the GIC.

Teams of policemen, border policemen and migration management officers will become more mobile, more operational, and more effective in maintaining security and public order. The capacities and resources of the subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) were strengthened today by an assistance package provided by the US Government, the Government of Japan, the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Council of Europe Development Bank.

The government continues to denounce cooperation agreements with the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which have lost their relevance. The third is a cooperation agreement on preventing and dealing with the consequences of exceptional situations.

The EU Drugs Strategy focuses on two important issues: stepping up national drug prevention and investigation and close international cooperation.

A Working Group has recently been set up on the platform of the EU Support Hub in Chisinau, to address systemic approaches to large-scale seizures of goods taken out of civilian use, including drugs.

The security measures taken by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the context of the multiple crises of the last year, have been discussed online during a conference organised by LSE IDEAS from the UK.
