4 December 2025 Moldova is taking an important step toward improving road safety. Connecting to EUCARIS, the European system through which EU member states quickly verify information about vehicles and driving licences, brings direct benefits to citizens and to the way traffic violations are handled. Implementing this system means that authorities will be able to identify more quickly the drivers who commit offences, including those committed in other countries, helping to prevent dangerous behaviour and reduce accidents caused by negligence or irresponsibility. EUCARIS will also contribute to faster responses in cases of car theft, as vehicles can be searched for and detected in real time through cooperation with other states. To ensure the system becomes fully operational, the Ministry of Internal Affairs today launched the first training workshop dedicated to the staff responsible for its implementation. Participants include representatives from the internal affairs system, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Public Services Agency, ANTA, the E-Governance Agency, the National Centre for Personal Data Protection, as well as IT experts. The training focuses on the technical and operational procedures required for connecting to the system, cybersecurity standards, and the management of cross-border data exchange, so that Moldova can fully benefit from this European tool. “Connecting to EUCARIS is more than a technical process – it is a commitment to modernization, transparency, and real road safety. Through this system, we are improving the state’s capacity to prevent traffic violations and strengthen international cooperation for the direct benefit of our citizens”, stated Secretary of State Alexandru Bejan. The workshop also includes simulations of the platform use and testing of data flows, contributing to faster and more accurate enforcement of road safety legislation. The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to modernize and digitize services in the field of road safety, in line with the cooperation commitments to the European Union. This training is delivered with the support of the “Support for EU Integration” project, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and implemented by GIZ Moldova.
