The Ministry of Internal Affairs accelerates the European Integration of Moldova

In the spirit of transparency and a firm commitment to the country’s European path, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), as the coordinating institution, organized the monthly meeting of Working Group 24 Justice, Freedom and Security, as part of Moldova’s accession process to the European Union.

The meeting brought together representatives of public authorities and civil society actively involved in aligning Moldova with European standards and values.

Chaired by Andrei Cecoltan, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Chair of Working Group 24, the session focused on assessing the progress achieved by the responsible institutions in implementing the actions outlined in the Rule of Law Roadmap and in the National Programme for EU Accession 2025–2029.

Participants also analysed the challenges and necessary solutions for accelerating the reform process and strengthening institutional capacities.

An important highlight of the meeting was the announcement of the launch of the process to update the National Programme for EU Accession 2025–2029, specifically for Chapter 24. This new stage will include additional measures to harmonize national legislation with the EU acquis, aiming to strengthen the rule of law, ensure citizens’ safety, and enhance institutional resilience.

Through these efforts, the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to bring Moldova closer to the European family and to build a democratic future in which every citizen feels protected.
