Enhanced interinstitutional cooperation to prevent online sexual exploitation of children and combat human trafficking in Moldova

Strengthening mechanisms to prevent and combat cybercrime, digital violence, and human trafficking was the central focus of the roundtable “Strengthening Interinstitutional Cooperation to Combat Online Sexual Exploitation of Children and Human Trafficking: Results, Trends, and Future Directions”, attended by Alexandru Bejan, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Secretary of State emphasized the importance of interinstitutional cooperation - between the police, prosecution, judiciary, social assistance services, and specialized structures - to ensure an integrated approach that combines prevention, prosecution of traffickers, and reintegration of victims. He also reiterated the need for proactive victim identification, expanded protection services, continuous professional training, and strengthened operational partnerships, including at international level.

The event, organized by IOM, the U.S. Government, and the NGO La Strada, brought together representatives of law enforcement institutions, local public authorities, and civil society. It focused on exchanging good practices and establishing common action priorities.
